Two years ago today, we announced the New Blue Party of Ontario!

Wednesday, October 12, 2022

Two years ago today, we announced that we had received approval from Elections Ontario to use the name "New Blue Party of Ontario" for a new provincial party in Ontario!

For the last two years, we have worked diligently to present Ontario voters with an alternative to the establishment PCs, Liberals, and NDP.

During this period, we also saw Jim recover from his 2021 battle with bone cancer that resulted in three surgeries (one reconstructive surgery of his leg), and six rounds of chemotherapy. By the Fall of 2021, Jim was back up and gearing up for our first election.

And despite all of the political and personal obstacles thrown our way, we made unprecedented gains:

  • 5th Largest Party in Ontario
    With 127,180 votes in our first campaign, the New Blue became Ontario’s fifth largest provincial party in less than two years - behind the Green Party which has been running candidates in provincial elections for over thirty years.

  • 127,000+ Votes
    We received more votes (and a greater share of the vote) in our first election campaign than any other Ontario provincial party has received in their first election campaign since the 1930s. We received more votes in our first campaign than the PPC received from Ontario voters in their first campaign.

  • First Party to Register a Candidate On Every Ballot
    The New Blue was the first party in Ontario’s 2022 election campaign to register a candidate in every riding and 123 of our 124 registered candidates finished the election. In just our first election campaign, we successfully ran more candidates than the Ontario Liberal Party.

Inside and outside the legislature, we continue to challenge the left and change the course.

In July 2020, before announcing the New Blue Party, Belinda was the only current or former PC MPP to vote against Ford's lockdown Bill 195.

Belinda's stand paved the way for the advocacy that followed across Ontario.

And with your support, Belinda continued balancing the narrative and changing the course as the New Blue's first MPP.

Here are three examples:

  1. Together, we stopped the Ford PCs from their attack on religious freedom when they quietly tried (and reversed course on) passing into law Ontario's first marital Code of Practice. The proposed legislation would have given one cabinet minister control over how how marriages are practiced in the province;

  2. Belinda led the charge against the extension of lockdown Bill 195 - click here to watch - and together we pressured MPPs to reverse course and vote down Bill 12 (that attempted to legally mandate the COVID-19 shot for education and healthcare workers); and

  3. We brought to light the PCs Bill 254 which was created primarily for the purpose of funnelling $5.9 million of taxpayer money, every year, to the Ontario PC Party.

And Belinda was the only MPP at Queen's Park to vote against the NDP's Bill 67 that proposed fining students in the classroom for "subconscious racism." All PC MPPs in attendance and Derek Sloan's co-conspirator, Rick Nicholls, voted in favour of Bill 67.

Our stand against Bill 67 led to the
StopWoke.ca campaign and the petition against critical race theory that Belinda presented at Queen's Park.

All of this began two years ago with our announcement.

After registering the New Blue Party of Ontario in January, 2021, we worked diligently in preparation, which included:

  1. establishing a founding board of directors and our founding constitution, principles, and mission statement;

  2. creating a not-for-profit corporation - the New Blue Ontario Fund - to handle thousands of contributions and membership purchases in accordance with accounting and legal governance requirements; and

  3. beginning the registration of local associations, leading to successfully registering 124 New Blue associations - one for every constituency in Ontario - and establishing a three-stage application process for future New Blue candidates.

Thank you for all your support over the past two years!

In fact, thank you for all your support dating back to 2017, when we were first attacked by the establishment for starting the campaign toAxe the Carbon Taxand for fighting voter fraud in internal PC Party elections!

The New Blue Party can only continue to grow andchallenge the left, balance the narrative, and change the course, with your generous support.
