Were you surprised with the news, last Friday?

Global News reported that an Ontario PC MPP - a "key" part of Doug Ford's PC caucus - is caught up in the scandal involving the Chinese Communist Party seeking to influence Canadian elections.

"[S]ources with knowledge of the investigation into Beijing’s covert efforts during the 2019 federal election ... assert that Vincent Ke, a Progressive Conservative member in Premier Doug Ford’s government since 2018, served as a financial intermediary in Chinese Communist Party (CCP) interference schemes ...

According to those same sources, Ke received around $50,000, part of a larger disbursement from the Chinese Consulate in Toronto in the $250,000 range that was channelled through a series of intermediaries."

You might have been surprised, but you know who wasn't?

Doug Ford and the Ontario PC Party.

Last month, New Blue Party leader Jim Karahalios pointed out on Twitter that word about Vincent Ke's connections to the Chinese Communist Party has been public for almost four years. Click here to read one reporter's coverage of the story from 2019 that Jim referenced in his tweet.

Doug Ford and the PC Party knew about their MPP's ties to the Chinese Communist Party.

And not only did they ignore it.

They defended the MPP.

Benefited from his connections to the Chinese Communist Party. 

And promoted him.

In fact, in the Ontario legislature the PCs did everything they could to prevent Belinda Karahalios from bringing attention to the issue, while she was an MPP.

With Ke now caught in the current story involving Justin Trudeau Liberal MPs connected to the Chinese Communist Party, Ford had no other choice but to finally remove the MPP from the Ontario PC caucus.

But despite what the media, "independents," and other "influencers" may be telling you, Ford didn't entirely get rid of the MPP.

Instead, Ford made sure to give Ke a prominent and beneficial position, all while making it look like he was sidelining him.

It was Ford's way of showing Ke how much those fundraising efforts are appreciated in the corrupt Ontario PC Party and to ensure the funds keep on coming.
