For truth & justice: from campaigns to court.

Thursday, December 22, 2022

Last week, we emailed you about the New Blue Party requesting a court date to challenge the constitutionality of an undemocratic by-law that bans election signs in Waterloo region.  Click here if you missed it.

We need your help to keep moving forward - advocating for truth and justice!

We are requesting a trial date to challenge the undemocratic by-law banning political lawn signs by Waterloo Regional Council.  The by-law appears to be contrary to prior court rulings on the matter and if so would be unconstitutional.

But that's not all the New Blue Party, or our Leader Jim Karahalios, have been advocating for in court in the pursuit of truth and justice.

1.  Fighting COVID-19 Charges Against Belinda!

Back in 2020, Belinda was one of the first to receive fines for speaking out against COVID-19 lockdowns and mandates.  The Karahalios family received a knock at the door from officers and received two $880.00 tickets in response to Belinda speaking at a Waterloo protest.  The charges are still pending as Belinda awaits a court date.

2.  Fighting the Taxpayer Subsidy of the Establishment Parties!

In 2021, the Ford PCs brought back the Liberal Party’s scheme that provides a per-vote subsidy to any political party receiving more than 2% of the vote in the last election.  This time, the PCs added a new variation to the legislation allowing the government to pay out more than $11 million as a lump sum to the establishment parties, in advance of the 2022 election, while also depriving the New Blue Party of an election reimbursement.  Even Rick Nicholls supported the bill, by voting and debating in favour, while Randy Hillier and Roman Baber were silent.  In October, we launched a lawsuit to challenge the Ford PC’s unjust changes to our election laws!

3.  Jim Defends Truckers at the Public Inquiry of the Freedom Convoy and in the Courts!

On November 3, 2022, Jim represented a witness, as their lawyer, at the Public Inquiry into the Freedom Convoy.  Jim is also representing two defendants in the class action lawsuit brought against participants in the Freedom Convoy protest and others facing charges related to the Freedom Convoy or COVID-19 mandates.

And do you remember Jim’s court fight over the so-called "election results" from the 2018 PC Party convention for party president and executive?  In that supposed "election" more ballots were cast than voters that voted.  And some of the very leaders that pretend to be on the side of truth and justice secretly aided the PC establishment.  Jim's court case is ongoing - three years after the action was started!

Since our first election, your New Blue team and our Leader, continue to fight for what's right - from the campaign trail to the courts.  We can't do it without your help!
