Recently, I emailed you about Doug Ford and the Ontario PC government copying the Justin Trudeau Liberals policy playbook by throwing $500 million to Volkswagen for electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing.  Click here to read the email.

This massive corporate welfare was delivered through government subsidies to a private for-profit company, paid for by Ontario taxpayers.

Now, I bring your attention to yet another sinister, left-wing, tax and spend collaboration between the Doug Ford Ontario PC government and the Justin Trudeau Liberals.

After seeing how much taxpayer money the Trudeau-Ford agenda were willing to shell out on Volkswagen’s EV project, Stellantis made it clear that they wanted more!

So, the Ford PC government promised to supplement a second EV subsidy with the federal Trudeau Liberals by offering yet another $500 million from Ontario taxpayers - this time for EV battery manufacturing in Windsor by Stellantis.

In columnist Lorne Gunter's words, "VW's ridiculous sweetheart deal from Ottawa and the Ontario provincial government was bound to make their rival carmakers jealous. Evidence of that came Monday when Stellantis ... announced it would stop construction on its $5-billion battery plant in Windsor until Ottawa and Queen's Park sweetened Stellantis' political premium."  Click here for his full article.

Instead of capping Ontario taxpayers' contribution at half a billion dollars, Doug Ford and the Ontario PC government caved, in spectacular fashion, when the Trudeau government wanted even more!

Doug Ford stepped forward to use Ontario taxpayer money to pacify the Trudeau Liberals and another for-profit private corporation.

This massive corporate welfare is obscene and flies in the face of sound and fiscally responsible government that we waited almost 20 years for in Ontario.

A responsible Ontario government should focus on lowering taxes and slashing overbearing and burdensome regulations to attract manufacturing and innovation to our province, rather than engaging in wasteful corporate welfare programs that will eventually end when the taxpayer money runs out.

By partnering with the Trudeau Liberals on EV subsidization, the Ford PCs are aligning themselves with a flawed "green" agenda that is not based on sound economics or the market.

Electric vehicles, despite their potential, are still far from being a widespread and affordable option for everyday Ontarians.

In their current form they are not reliable, especially when cold temperatures and driving conditions can drastically reduce EV battery power and range.  Click here to read a recently reported example.

But just like the federal Trudeau Liberals, the Ford PCs are desperate to virtue signal by spending taxpayers into oblivion.

The New Blue Party of Ontario is committed to promoting the free market and limited government in Ontario and to advocate for responsible spending of taxpayer money.

With your help, we will continue to hold the Ford government to account and educate more and more Ontarians on how the Ontario PC Party has become a desperate imitation of the Justin Trudeau Liberal Party.
