Ford PCs Hire Radical Leftist "Chief Equity Officer"

Thursday, August 15, 2024

Earlier this week, we brought your attention to the Ford PCs' continuation of the Liberal-era wind energy "banana republic."

But skyrocketing electricity rates are far from the only Liberal position the Ontario PCs have embraced.

Under the Ford PCs, the very same far-left education policies introduced by the Wynne Liberals are not just surviving — they're thriving.

Remember back in 2017 when the Wynne government created a "Chief Equity Officer" position for the Ministry of Education? Patrick Case held that position, pushing an agenda that prioritized ideology over education.

Many Ontarians hoped that when the Doug Ford PC government came to power in 2018, it would put an end to this nonsensical bureaucracy. But instead, they've doubled down.

Not only did the Ford PCs refuse to eliminate the "Chief Equity Officer" post — they left the Liberal appointee in it, and upon his retirement, advertised the position.

According to the government's job posting, "diversifying leadership teams is a top Ontario Public Service priority with the goal to achieve parity with the Ontario labour force by 2025 for the most underrepresented groups (Indigenous, racialized and persons with disabilities) in leadership positions. To advance this goal, the OPS is collecting socio-demographic information that will ... achieve equity in hiring."

At the end of July, the Ford government announced that it had made its pick in Giselle Basanta, a radical leftist who will be paid up to $224,940.00 annually to oversee "diversity in hiring and teacher training" and "data collection," in addition to advising the PC Minister of Education on legislation and curricula.

The "Chief Equity Officer" position is just another continuation of the Liberals' agenda by the Ontario PC Party.

A truly conservative government would stand up against this level of bureaucracy and left-wing ideology, not support it.

That is one of many reasons the New Blue Party of Ontario exists.

We believe that Ontario’s education system should focus on teaching our children the skills they need to succeed — not on implementing radical leftist ideologies and choking out meritocracy with diversity quotas and excessive administration.

The New Blue Party is committed to cutting through the red tape and ending these far-left policies once and for all.

But we need your help to keep moving forward.

With your help, we will challenge the left, balance the narrative, and change the course.

Thank you for your support!
