Have you heard about the latest tax-and-spend "partnership" between the Ford PCs and Trudeau Liberals?

On Friday, Doug Ford stood alongside Justin Trudeau and announced that the Ontario PC government plans to spend $500 million of your tax dollars to fund electric vehicle manufacturing in St. Thomas.  Click here to watch.

At the same press conference, Justin Trudeau joked that the Conservative Party of Canada is "no relation to the Progressive Conservatives of Ontario" because of just how quickly the Ford PCs have embraced the federal Liberal government's environmental plans.

At the New Blue Party, we know that using taxpayer money to fund electric vehicle production is an ill-advised attempt to create a market that cannot function without ongoing government assistance.

These subsidies create an uneven playing field, where industry winners and losers are decided by government fiat rather than by consumer demand.

Moreover, these subsidies do not necessarily create real demand for electric vehicles, but instead foster a false sense of demand that disappears once the taxpayer money dries up.

Creating jobs in this way is not sustainable, and ultimately leads to a bloated and inefficient government that cannot deliver real value to its citizens.

We believe in the power of the free market to create jobs and drive innovation.

Instead of relying on government subsidies, we need to encourage entrepreneurs, investors, and consumers to find new and innovative solutions to our most pressing problems.

This is the only way to create a sustainable and prosperous future for all Ontarians.

Doug Ford’s $500 million dollar electric vehicle subsidy is just another example of the Ontario PC Party embracing their role as the new Ontario wing of the federal Liberal government.
