Ford and Trudeau Are Playing the Same Game

Tuesday, November 26, 2024

Have you noticed?

Doug Ford and Justin Trudeau are operating from the same playbook, and they aren't even hiding it.

Both are sending out rebate cheques and enacting very
temporary tax cuts to buy votes ahead of 2025.

Ford recently announced $200 rebate cheques for Ontarians next spring. Last week, Trudeau promised $250 rebate cheques for 18.7 million Canadians in the coming months.

These are not permanent tax cuts.

They are short-term measures designed to grab support before facing the voters’ judgment in 2025.

In fact, the Ford PCs have not introduced a single permanent tax cut in their six years of power with a majority government.

If the Ford PCs truly cared about “keeping money in Ontarians’ pockets,” they would not have:

  • Imposed an industrial carbon tax that drives up the price of consumer goods

  • Thrown their case against Trudeau’s federal carbon tax by conceding 2 of the 3 legal arguments

  • Broken their promise to cut the second income bracket tax rate by 20%

  • Reneged on their commitment to permanently cut the provincial gas tax by 10 cents per litre

  • Partnered with Trudeau to spend billions on corporate welfare for electric vehicle manufacturers

  • Added more to Ontario’s debt than McGuinty and Wynne on a per-year basis

... And that’s just the beginning.

The New Blue Party is different.

We are the only conservative party ready to challenge Ontario's Trudeau-aligned PCs in next March’s election.

The New Blue stands for true blue values — and our track record supports our positions.

The Ford PCs, on the other hand, are beholden to lobbyists and left-wing ideologues.

We have been receiving applications from fantastic potential candidates. If you or someone you know is ready to make a difference, click here to apply. Hurry — our second round of applications closes December 8th!
