Christmas: When "The Word became Flesh"
Friday, December 22, 2023
It wasn't too long ago that the federal Conservative Party of Canada was embracing a carbon tax, wokeness, and every other left-wing cause you could think of.
After closely monitoring our grassroots activism for years, Pierre Poilievre's team now has the Conservative Leader preaching promises to "Axe the Carbon Tax," fight against drug injection sites, oppose woke activism, and most of the other causes the New Blue and its supporters have championed for years.
It is true what they say, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
But when left to their own devices, the Conservative Party establishment can't help but slip back into their left-wing rhetoric.
They need the provincial New Blue Party from Ontario, to keep leading the narrative that they then take out across the country.
This week provided yet another such example.
On Monday, the federal Conservative Party's Director of Communications sent out an email asking Canadians to join them in their fight to stop those want to cancel Christmas.
They were referring to the Canadian Human Rights Commission, that earlier in December released a disgraceful article they called a "study" that argued that "providing a statutory holiday for one religion [like Christmas], and not providing reasonable accommodation for other religions, may be considered discrimination."
Good for the Conservative Party.
The only problem is, the federal Conservative Party's rhetoric embraced the exact same meaning of Christmas as the very people they were claiming to fight.
In an explanatory opinion piece in the Montreal Gazette, the Canadian Human Rights Commission compared Christmas to "religious celebrations from other traditions."
In their email, the Conservatives called Christmas an "age-old tradition," that is just like other "rich cultural traditions."
Sound familiar?
To fight the woke activists that want to cancel Christmas as well as the other foundational Judeo-Christian values that underpin our society, we have to start by fighting the very meanings they are trying to apply to the same.
Christmas is not like other traditions.
Christmas is a mystery.
A glorious event in history.
And an awesome phenomenon.
It is the festival that celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ, the incarnation of God the Son and the awaited Jewish messiah, the Christ that is prophesied in the Hebrew Bible, and the savior of the world.
Or simply, it is when "The Word became Flesh."
Pretending it is anything else, only helps those that want to cancel it.
That is why we must continue to keep moving forward.
Even at the federal level, we can't rely on the establishment of the federal Conservative Party to defend the fundamentals when they craft their "communications."
It is up to us in the New Blue to keep challenging the left, balancing the narrative, and changing the course.
And we need your help to continue to do so.
There are only 9 days left to chip in with support for the New Blue in 2023.
