The New Blue doesn't just talk the talk.

We lead by example.

And our co-founders, Jim and Belinda Karahalios, have shown us that with principled leadership others will follow – regardless of their nefarious reasons.

1. Saying NO to Lockdowns!

Belinda was the first Canadian politician to stand up against COVID-19 lockdowns and mandates by voting against legislation brought by her own governing party. 

And she was the only current or former Ontario PC MPP to vote against Bill 195, Ford’s authoritarian COVID-19 lockdown legislation. 

Only later did other politicians in Ontario follow Belinda’s lead – after they repeatedly voted in favour of those same lockdowns.

And ever since, these same politicians have disappeared and walked away from holding the Ford PC government accountable for their disastrous authoritarian lockdowns.

Moreover, the New Blue Party kicked off the Freedom Convoy in Fort Erie in January of 2022 – a week before its arrival in Ottawa!

Jim was the first political figure to speak at the Freedom Convoy during its first weekend.

And thanks to our local leader and candidate Rob Stocki, the New Blue Party set up the Freedom Convoy’s necessary staging equipment for the first day.

2. Axe the Carbon Tax!

In 2017, Jim founded and led the Axe the Carbon Taxcampaign against Justin Trudeau's and then-Ontario PC leader Patrick Brown's carbon taxes.

And while Ontario's PC Party doubled-down on their support for carbon taxes in the years since, Pierre Poilievre and the federal Conservatives have finally caught on.  Now, the Poilievre's CPC are constantly debating Max Bernier's PPC over which party can be trusted to "Axe the Carbon Tax."

3. Saying NO to Critical Race Theory!

In 2021, a Ford PC government task force recommended that race and gender quotas be imposed on the boards of directors of every single business listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange that would have resulted in stock prices plummeting.

We exposed the PC government's intentions, informed you, and together we ensured the proposal never became law.

And by March 2022, Belinda was the only MPP in the Ontario legislature to vote against Bill 67 – the NDP’s Critical Race Theory legislation.

A few days later, Derek Sloan's co-conspirator Rick Nicholls caught on and walked back his support of the bill.

4. Saying NO to Drug Injection Sites!

Over her entire term as an MPP, Belinda took a principled stand against drug injection sites and the taxpayer funding of so-called "safe-supply" of drugs – even as Doug Ford and the Ontario PC government flip-flopped to support them.

Belinda was repeatedly attacked by Ontario's political establishment and media for her stand.

It took a while, but four years later, Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre released a video advertisement following Belinda’s lead and echoing her opposition to drug injection sites and so-called "safe supply."

5. Fighting For Life & Free Speech!

In 2019, an abortion clinic in Waterloo Region had asked for a "bubble zone," which would make it illegal for anyone to verbally or non-verbally communicate a pro-life message within 150 metres of the building.

The Ford government had informed Belinda (a PC MPP at the time) they were going to grant the application – until she pushed back and forced them to reverse the decision.

6. Defending Religious Freedom

With Bill 213 in October 2020, the Ford PCs attempted to create a vague "code of practice" for marriage officiants and give a government minister the power to revoke any marriage officiant’s licence if they did not comply with the yet-to-be-revealed "code of practice." 

The New Blue Party pushed back, and less than 3 months later the PCs relented by removing the entire section from the bill!

Through this principled leadership, the New Blue Party has led the way in changing the narrative in Ontario!

We remain resolute in restoring hope for Ontario with a NEW and BLUE political party that respects the taxpayer, small business, and our churches.
