Outlaw Voter Fraud. Ban Lobbyists. Scrap the $100M political party subsidy.
Wednesday, April 13, 2022
Our platform, the New Blueprint, was recently announced - click here to watch the video and read the platform.
It includes key commitments including renewing accountability in Ontario provincial politics.
The New Blue Party platform includes a commitment to:
1. Repeal the $100 Million taxpayer subsidy of political parties.
2. Ban lobbyists from party politics.
3. Crack down on voter fraud in internal party elections.

First, we will scrap the $100 million dollar taxpayer subsidy of political parties.
In 2018, the Doug Ford PCs promised to end this taxpayer subsidy, which is essentially a welfare program for the establishment parties.
But not only did the PC Party break their promise by bringing back the taxpayer subsidy, he increased it by 40%!
So, the Ontario Liberal Party now receives $2.8 million a year ...
... the Ontario NDP receives $5 million ...
... and the Ontario PC Party receives $5.9 MILLION a year of taxpayer money!
Over the last ten years, these three parties have received more than $100 million dollars in taxpayer money.
This money could have been spent on tax relief, or it could have been injected into our healthcare system, or put toward services like expanding early treatment of COVID-19.
The New Blue will end this waste of taxpayer money that is going towards paying for the nefarious political operations of the establishment political parties.
Second, we will ban lobbyists from internal party politics.
In 2018, the New Blue team raised the red flag to the Doug Ford PCs being controlled by insiders and lobbyists of big business and big government.
Click here for an article by the Globe and Mail titled: Ford Government Warned Over Close Lobbyist Ties.
One of the New Blue Party's board members penned a letter calling out the Ford PC's appointment of a dozen lobbyists on their 17-member election-readiness committee.
This represented “continued undermining of the democratic integrity” of the PC Party that left "grassroots party members, and their representative boards, with a shrinking voice, and without any legitimate means to enable accountable representation.”
And since then, the PCs have responded by completely shutting down the voice of grassroots members by doing away with all nominations and having Doug Ford pick all of their candidates.
Third, we must finally make voter fraud in internal party elections illegal.
Currently, there are no laws in Ontario that make electoral fraud in a political party election illegal - and the Ford PC government is fine with it.
In 2019, Belinda Karahalios tried to fix that when she tabled her first private members bill - Bill 150, the Ensuring Transparency and Integrity in Political Party Elections Act.
Instead of passing this common sense bill, the PCs parked the legislation at a committee they controlled and ensured it never came back for a vote in the legislature.
Then, the PC government finally killed the bill.
What kind of political party would oppose passing a bill that would make voter fraud illegal?
And why don't other supposed political "leaders" talk about this bill?
More on that next time!
These are just some of the important solutions we are proposing in the New Blueprint as we continue to challenge the left, balance the narrative, and change the course.
We hope we can earn your support.
The best is yet to come!
