Do you remember when the Ford PCs promised to cut electricity rates leading up to the 2018 Ontario provincial election?

Unsurprisingly, that turned out to be a lie.

Instead, the Ontario PCs have continued the McGuinty-Wynne legacy of skyrocketing costs, all while spending billions of your tax dollars to buy left-wing votes.

A recent federal report revealed that in 2023, Ontario exported about 9% of its electricity to the United States. Yet, while we sell our energy south of the border at an average of $41.77 per MWh, we pay a much steeper $57.15 per MWh to bring it back. This discrepancy is outrageous, and part of a much larger problem.

At the New Blue Party of Ontario, we know that lowering Ontarians' hydro bills starts with taking down wind turbines that contribute little to our energy supply but account for the largest component of our electricity rates.

The Ford PC government (yes, the same one that shut down thousands of small businesses for COVID-19) claims that the Ontario legislature lacks the power to decommission costly and inefficient wind farms.

This is simply not true.

While each Ontario government is sovereign within its term and is free to enter into contracts, this sovereignty does not extend to binding future governments. New governments have the flexibility to end contracts and fulfill the mandate given by voters each election.

But the Ford PCs have chosen to continue the liberal “banana republic” style rip-off by approving the largest wind farm in Ontario’s history in North Stormont.

And while the PCs happily embrace directives from far-left lobbyists and the Trudeau Liberals, Ontarians are paying the price.

To lower electricity rates back to normal, we need to push to take down Ontario's wind turbines and make sure they never come back.
