Do you remember when Doug Ford proclaimed that he was "dead against" drug injection sites while on the campaign trail in 2018? You might, but Ford and the Ontario PC Party don't seem to!

Once the Ford PCs won that election and formed government, they flipped their position almost immediately.

By 2019, then-health minister Christine Elliott had approved taxpayer funding for 15 drug injection sites across the province.

Now, Ontario's PC government is funding a total of 17 sites, and have committed to funding 21 altogether!

In many parts of Ontario, parents are forced to check public parks for dirty needles before their children can play safely. What was the Ford government's solution? To use more tax dollars to distribute needles at drug injection sites throughout the province!

In true liberal fashion, these sites have been misleadingly branded "consumption and treatment services" by the new Ontario wing of the Trudeau Liberal government - the Ford PCs.

Throughout my time as MPP for Cambridge, the establishment political class was determined to establish a drug injection site against the will of the vast majority of residents.

I fought hard against that proposal and defended my constituents.

In November 2021, I asked the Ford PCs if they would keep their promise to stand "for the people" and reject Cambridge City Council’s application for a drug injection site.

In response, the PC Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Health actually went so far as to claim that the Ford government’s drug injection sites were "saving lives"! Click here to watch.

As Canadians have witnessed in areas like Vancouver, injection sites and the so-called "safe supply" of "free" opioids in lieu of real solutions - like more community policing and access to rehabilitation, jobs, and mental health supports - have only exacerbated the homelessness and addiction crises.

Drug injection sites are a failure, not a solution, and they come with a heavy cost to the taxpayer.

But like their federal cousins the Justin Trudeau Liberal government, the Ontario PCs have fully embraced and champion drug injection sites at every turn.

The New Blue Party is Ontario's only provincial political option committed to conservative principles and to the responsible use of taxpayer money.

With your help, we will continue to hold the Ford government to account and educate more and more Ontarians on how the Ford PCs have become a desperate imitation of the Justin Trudeau Liberal Party.
