Doug Ford’s government is gearing up for an early election planned for March 2025.

Two telling moves in the past week confirm the PC Party’s intentions:

1. The Ford PCs are fast-tracking bills through the legislature with minimal or no debate, signalling they may not even reconvene the house after MPPs’ winter break, scheduled from December 13 to February 17.

2. Longtime PC MPP Lisa MacLeod has announced that she will be departing from politics on February 28th, 2025 — pointing to the date the PCs plan on calling the campaign.

The Doug Ford PCs want to avoid facing an Ontario electorate after Justin Trudeau is ousted next autumn.

They know that widespread discontent with their federal Liberal friends is fuelling frustration with their own government, as many blue voters seek a “fresh start” on both political levels. To sidestep this wave of discontent and limit the New Blue Party’s time to prepare, Ford is aiming to rush Ontarians back to the ballot box.

But we’re not backing down.
