For six years, Doug Ford and his PC government increased the number of drug injection sites allowed in Ontario, ultimately pledging to approve up to 24 sites.

Throughout her entire term as MPP, Belinda Karahalios stood firm against this dangerous policy in her riding of Cambridge.

She conducted community surveys, stood up in the legislature, and held the Ford PCs accountable for their push to normalize taxpayer-funded drug injection sites and the so-called “safe supply” of hard drugs.

The Ford PCs didn’t make it easy. They were openly hostile to Belinda’s principled stance and parroted the Trudeau Liberals’ claim that drug injection sites “save lives.” 

But thanks to the New Blue Party’s existence and your support, we are seeing some progress.

Yesterday, the PCs passed Bill 223 on second reading. If passed into law, it would see drug consumption sites located within 200 metres of schools and daycares close next year.

This is a small but significant step, and it’s proof that our persistent advocacy is making a difference!

However, this fight is far from over.

The Ford PCs are still allowing 7 drug consumption sites to operate across the province and continue to pour millions of taxpayer dollars into their funding.

It isn’t enough to shut down the drug injection sites near schools — that should be a given.

What’s truly absurd is that a so-called Progressive “Conservative” government is approving and funding drug injection sites at all.

The New Blue Party’s position remains clear: All drug consumption sites in Ontario must be shut down, and the wasteful spending must end.

Your continued support helps us pressure the Ford PCs to do what’s right for Ontarians. 

Together, we’ve already forced them to move slightly to the right on this issue.

Now, let’s keep the momentum going.
