...we're bringing in new blood!
Friday, January 21, 2022
This Sunday, Jim and I will be in Fort Erie speaking at the "I Support Truckers" convoy that is heading to Ottawa! See the image below for further information.
Date: Sunday January 23, 2022
Time: 10am
Location: 750 Garrison Rd, Fort Erie
I was also hoping to speak at Queen's Park on Saturday but our team's attempts at having me added to the speakers list were rejected by organizers.
I was the only current or former PC MPP to vote against the initial passing of Doug Ford's lockdown bill. And as far as I know, I am the only politician in Canada to lose my spot in a government or a political party for voting against lockdown / mandate related legislation. Despite this, for most of the last two years it has been difficult to get an invitation or be permitted to speak at many events. The organizers at the Saturday event at Queen's Park are inviting other current or former politicians to speak, who are not running in the next provincial election and whose ties with the Ontario PC Party and its organizers and lobbyists run deep. But as I explain below, this isn't slowing the New Blue's momentum!
Last October, MPP Rick Nicholls approached me to give me some advice. Rick told me that New Blue shouldn't waste time trying to recruit any current or former PC MPPs - like him - because none of them would want to fight against their friends on the PC benches during the next Ontario election campaign.
In that moment, it seemed like Rick was being honest relying on knowledge he acquired in being a PC MPP for ten years. Since then, our New Blue team went out and launched our candidate application process geared towards bringing new blood into Ontario provincial politics! Yesterday was our first candidate application deadline and the result has been incredible! We are now working through the next stages of that process.
Yesterday, we also held an all-party leaders meeting and over 114 New Blue local leaders across Ontario attended. It was also a great success! During our meeting, local New Blue leaders expressed support for truck drivers opposed to the COVID-19 vaccine passport mandates ushered in on their industry by Doug Ford's "good friend" Justin Trudeau.
Of course, Doug Ford and the PCs have been totally silent on Trudeau's edict. In fact, the Ford PCs paved the way for Trudeau to take this position because for two years they supported and advocated for the same policies in industries that fall under provincial jurisdiction.
The result has been a shortage of professionals in Ontario's health care system that the Ford PCs are now looking to fill with international health care workers.
Earlier this week, I sent Doug Ford's Minister of Labour, Monte McNaughton, a letter demanding that the Ford PC government implement a policy that ensures hospital employers take best efforts to re-hire those healthcare workers who have lost their jobs due to refusing to use a COVID-19 vaccination passport. I also demanded that the PC government ensure all vacancies in our healthcare system be filled by Ontario workers first. I provide the letter at the bottom of this email for your review.
Doug Ford and the PC government's advocacy for repeated lockdowns and mandates over the last two years, and their left-wing establishment policies, have paved the way for Justin Trudeau to impose similar policies at the federal level.
To change the course, the New Blue Party of Ontario will continue to stand on principle and stand up for Ontarians - the job that the Ontario PC Party will never do.
We continue to get ready for the next provincial election likely to be held on June 2nd and we hope we can earn your support.
If you are able and willing, consider contributing to keep our momentum going.
