Ford & Carney: Two Sides of the Same Coin
On Sunday, Mark Carney replaced Justin Trudeau as the leader of the Liberal Party of Canada.
After multiple candidates were “disqualified” from the leadership race, only 151,899 of the Liberal Party’s approximate 400,000 registered members voted. The “coronation” of Mark Carney was complete with 131,674 votes — 86.84% of the total.
Within minutes of the announcement, Doug Ford rushed to congratulate Carney, gushing that “together, [they will] unleash the Canadian economy and make our country more secure by building big, bold projects.”
It should come as no surprise that Doug Ford is a fan of Mark Carney and the federal Liberals.
After all, Ford has been praising Justin Trudeau for years.
And like the Liberal Party of Canada, there is no democracy within the Ontario PC Party.
Ford and his lobbyists now hand-pick all PC candidates.
There are no PC nomination votes or votes of any kind—either at a convention or in a caucus meeting.
And the Ontario PC backroom strategists do not allow anyone—even their own elected MPPs—to advocate for true blue values inside their party.
Many of our New Blue Party members tried to fix the Ontario PC Party “from the inside” for years, only to have the process hijacked over and over again. In Jim and Belinda’s case, this included PC brass rigging a presidential election in favour of their pick, and being removed from caucus for voting against Ford’s lockdowns.
The Ontario PC Party has completed its transformation into a wing of the Liberal Party of Canada—promoting endless tax-and-spend policies, “woke” activism, and blatantly backing the federal Liberals following a leadership race fraught with secrecy and unexplained candidate removals.
At the New Blue, we are building a grassroots movement that puts Ontarians ahead of lobbyists and left wing ideologues that run Ontario’s establishment parties.
