Reflecting on Holy Thursday
On this Holy Thursday, Christians across Ontario and around the world reflect on the Last Supper: when Jesus humbled Himself to wash His disciples’ feet and gave the commandment to love one another as He has loved us.
“If I, therefore, the master and teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash one another’s feet. I have given you a model to follow, so that as I have done for you, you should also do. Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master nor any messenger greater than the one who sent him. If you understand this, blessed are you if you do it.” John 13:14-17
Christ’s example challenges us to lead not by seeking power or status, but by putting others first — by speaking truth when it’s difficult, acting with integrity when it’s unpopular, and standing firm in faith even when the world pushes back.
It is this kind of servant leadership that we need now more than ever in public life.
As we enter the Easter weekend, may we all be inspired by the example of Christ’s sacrifice.
Wishing you and your loved ones a blessed Holy Thursday.
With gratitude,
